About the Test
The Virginia DMV knowledge test consists of two parts:
- Part 1: Traffic Signs. You must score 100% on the 10 traffic sign questions before you can proceed to part two.
- Part 2: General Knowledge. You must score at least 80% on these questions, which cover traffic laws, safe driving techniques, and the rules of the road.
Note: Our practice test is a helpful study tool but is not an official DMV product. Passing this practice test does not guarantee you will pass the official DMV exam.
Study Tips
Study the Manual First
Read through the official VA Driver's Manual completely before relying on practice tests.
Memorize Shapes & Colors
Traffic signs are critical. Know what the shape and color of a sign means even without reading the text.
Take it Multiple Times
The questions rotate. Take the practice test several times to ensure you're exposed to a variety of questions.
